After reading these comments, it sounded like we may have been oversteering during our wall run.
Turns out all you have to do on PS4 is to point the L joystick up to go straight the entire time and double jump between each wall. We were skeptical at first but it worked.
Wow, thanks. I quit this game for months but left it installed thinking that I would come back but never got worked up to try that jump another 20 times.
Then I saw this. Stopped trying to steer, just concentrated on hitting all of the double jumps. On the 5th time I hit all double jumps perfectly and was so high on the last wall I though I would hit the top of the landing cave!!!
