Forum Discussion
There is a thread about this started virtually at launch that went to 18 pages before a troll got the thread locked, but yes, there are many, many people who want TrackIR supported.
To a decent developer, it's about 4 hours work to do, with a Free SDK that has example code, and it would be a trivial thing to add that so many would appreciate, I have no idea why the devs are so reticent about this or why they refused to even comment about it.
The only comment they've expressed was that they didn't even consider it (or know about it) before release, but as freelook is broken in game in the current implementation (you can't look and fly at the same time regardless of the axes bound) then this really should be a high priority.

+1 for trackir
- 5 years ago@Elphaba I would indeed consider this to be the main priority for star wars Squadrons because trackir support would surely boost sales and it may also prove not to be very difficult to do!
- 5 years ago@FSfan2020 THEYVE ADDED TRACKIR!! THANK YOU SO MUCH DEVS!!!

Very cool. I had moved to VR but I’ll dust off my old TrackIR gear and see how it plays.

I seriously doubt EA or Motive didn't know about TrackIR, or the amount of people using it. It seems more of a comercial interest with VR headsets manufacturers. I hope I'm wrong, though.

my small fix or work around would to just have an ,,OVER LOOK VIEW,,. This will pan your head view to look off into the way you are turning, just enough to keep your targeting cross hair inside view edge or at a max thirty degrees from cross hairs to center screen of viewing angle. Making this a toggle option, either in the settings or as replacing the double tap button switch that is currently in the game for free look. Although free look needs a dedicated hold down button or double tap hold to look then it springs back center when released.

Way easier to implement a "padlock view" instead.
But again....
+1 for Track IR.
