Unlink child EA account from Xbox Live gamertag
EA support (after waiting ALL day for a call back) just told me that it is "impossible" to unlink an EA Origin account from an Xbox Live gamertag because the Origin account that I want unlinked is a child account. I won't get into the well-known issues and workarounds that many have posted where parents are forced to lie about their children's age just so that the child can play a multiplayer game that the parent approves of. What do we get for being honest about the kid's age when first creating the child EA Origin account? Just hours of wasted time and talking to tech support who preaches to me, the parent, about some paternalistic "laws" that prohibit a child Origin account from unlinking with an XBL account for the child's protection. Really?
Is the only solution in this case to create a new XBL account (which means new Microsoft account and everything associated with it) for my child and then linking it with the "correct" EA Origin account? Is it really true that the child EA account cannot be unlinked from an XBL gamertag? Is there truly no other workaround to make all of this EA non-sense go away and let my kid play a Star Wars game?
