For anyone saying do hit and run...
The problem is that unless the Rebel ship has already been weakened, softened up, you're not getting a kill. The average weapon on Imp side does something like 500-ish DPS. Let's go with the absolute softest target, the A-Wing. The A-Wing has 500 Hull, and 500 Shield. So, just to start, that means a consistent lock and never missing, for 2 seconds straight. Now, add in that they are dodging, moving, etc. So, you're not getting that 2 seconds straight. You might wear down shields, and do a point or two on the hull.
But, THEN, after you have zoomed off (hit and RUN right?) They punch their Hull Repair Aux and throw over to shields. They are back to full, and full shields again. You zoom back in for another go, and... they survive... again. Odds are, during all of this, you have taken some hits as well. And, unless you are flying the only two ships with repair, your damage is probably not getting healed up.
It's a war of attrition, and because Imps do not have the numbers like they would in true SW setting, the balance tips in favor of the Rebels.
Imps need more coordination to frag NR fighters, that is true, so it is harder at first. You need good team work to prevent a NR fighter from escaping and repairing.
- 5 years ago@Reposter Ahh... so, your concept is to take a 5 player team, and make 2 teams of 2, with a support guy, all to be able to take on ONE of theirs who doesn't need support, all because their ships can manage to do all of that without needing backup or support?
So, 5 ships that are capable of fighting anything less than 2-3 ships teaming up. That will only leave, I dunno... THREE of theirs free to wreck train on the Imps freely, since it takes multiple Imps to bring down a single one of theirs.
Yep... not OP at all. Any time you need more than one to take on one, you give number advantages to them. When you don't have the canonical numbers advantage (as TIEs are supposed to be easy to take down, as the Empire had 100:1 numerical advantage in any and all fights, but are built without expensive components like shields or Hyper).
Unfortunately, this is even up 5 v 5, so the numerical advantage is completely gone. The Rebel ships are built properly, per lore and canon. However, the Imps are, too, but don't have what made them a threat: NUMBERS.
Yes, their method of killing was teaming up and doing hit and runs. That's easy to do when you have 5-10 TIEs (or MORE) on each of the Rebels. So, to make 5 v 5 balanced, they need to do something like harden the hulls on the Imps, beef up weapons, or something. As it is, the Imps need 2-3 per Rebel to be balanced.
@Reposter your comment is the actual point - they need to team up. The Rebels do NOT. That puts the numbers advantage in the Rebel's favor. - 5 years ago@ShadoeWrayth Well Your Mileage May Vary, may the force be with you.

i have too give my 2 cents here. too me i hnestly dont think rebel ships are more powerful that imperial. most all matches i been in so far have been really close. with each side maybe losing by 1 or 2 kills. and seen winns on both sides.
the only balance issue i see between ships is between the tie reaper and u-wing. the reaper is by far the weakest ship in the game it has the worst view from the cockpit and far less maneuverable and slower than the u-wings. plus it gauges are laid out weird and and hard too see how many missiles you have left ect.. where as the u-wing like other ships has the dash info right in front that you can glance at with out having too scan the cockpit. plus the u=wing has very good visibility from the * pit and actually can dog fight and hold it own against fighters or go into the defense zone with teammates when attacking a star destroyer. with the reaper your get destroyed before you get close plus it cant really keep up with the ships it supports.
so really the nly under powered ship i have seen in the game is the reaper

hobinum, that's the best comment i've seen. not someone wining that the ships ae overpowered. to often do we see the game released and a small but loud group of players what the DEV's to adjust the game to there play style, not learn to play the game as it was made. My biggest issue with the game is the trash HOTAS support, i spent hours and am still tweaking the joystick, st this point its the fact the games defult dead zones are to big. even with them set to zero, there is still a dead zone and the sensitivity is still to low, in a nutshell, they imported the support from Battlefield, and battlefront (same game) i had the same issues with joy stick setup in both those games. its lazy programing. which EA is known for. this game has so much potential, but EA has to look at it from a different point of view, thoes of us asking for HOTAS support,VR and Tracker IR. with this game thay have a huge potential for the PC side of the house
