VR or not to VR, that is the question...

I'm thinking about grabbing a PS4 so I can get in on the VR fun. I'm an Xbone person but willing to buy both versions as I think playing this on VR will be epic.

Anyone else thinking of doing this? Knowing my luck, they'll probably release one for the new Xbox just after I buy one fo rthe PS4...

  • IMO if you have to buy a PS4 to have VR I would save up and get PC instead. I'm not doing the old PC Vs Console thing here!  Please hear me out.

    Why go with PC VR?

    • Better visuals (in VR this makes a huge difference)
    • Better games available (HF: Alyx, Boneworks etc)
    • You don't need a top teir PC to run them. Yes it's going to be more expensive but it's worth it! I would recommend a second hand GTX 1070 for GPU

If you have other reasons to get a PS4 then sure go for it. Anyone getting into VR is good but just know that it's the most basic experience there is (excluding mobile phone VR) so please don't be put off.

@RuStyMoNkeY96 Fair point but I'm just not that interested to get a PC just for that tbh. Only buying it for Squadrons really.

Personally, i'm Having a PSVR at home, and as a customer i can definitely say i won't play this game without it ! As it does the job perfectly !

Soooo immersive ! Looking for epicness ? Go go go for VR ! (try to have a Good deal, you won't be disappointed !)

I have played Star Wars battlefront 2015 VR mission many times, and until Star Wars Squadrons is out, i really think it's the Best star wars gaming experience ever... So...

Of course, the VR technology is evolving, a Good PC and a more recent headset would be ideal, but trust me, not necessary.

PSVR is totally OK for immersion ! (and will be compatible for next gen ps5)

The only important thing that would make me recommand you to invest in a PC+VR headset is the HOTAS compatibility (sadly, support not confirmed on consoles actually)... For a totally dreamed immersion !

PS: I've also bought a gaming PC and an oculus this year. Not many quality difference IMO...

I Preordered SW Squadrons twice. My HOTAS waiting for it !

May The Force Be With You, Always...

  • My Last post has been deleted... (moderation ?)

Soooo... In few words... Answer is...

    Definitely VR !

May The Force Be With You, Always...

  • Personally I would VR, if you haven't jumped into VR yet I think you might be surprised how well it works and the number of fun titles out there.

Now in the case of PS4 vs PC, I would propose a third option, go for a PS5.

It will be backwards compatible with PS4 games and the PSVR1 kit, plus you will have a console that will be just starting its product cycle rather than the end of it.

I'm thinking about buying the VR Headset just for this game myself. Personally, I think its completely worth the immersion 😎

I wholeheartedly agree.  I'm grabbing it on PC and will be playing it on HOTAS and VR.  Although I think I'll probably play around in non-VR for a while first to get to grips with the game.  Maybe do the campaign tutorial without the headset on.  Then, once I've got all my HOTAS controls setup the way I like it, switch over to playing in the VR headset.

  • I am hoping for TrackIR support.

Alas, I do not own a VR setup for my PC, but I do have TrackIR and an Ultrawide monitor.  It is incredibly immersive but still allows me access to the 'real word' if needed (say when my son decides to hurt himself) that I would lose whilst playing in VR.

There are pros and * to both.  It really just depends on what experience YOU personally want from the game.
