wasd not registering

Summarize your bug WASD not registering for movement
How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%)
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Not sure - not sure what caused it, last played a few days ago and it was fine, today I tried to play and it won't let me move forward backwards side - side with WASD...
What happens when the bug occurs? It looks like the keys on the keyboard got remapped somehow. When I come in contact with someone who I can talk to it says: "Press 'G' to talk" and only D with WASD on the keyboard works. I found that 3 and 6 are mapped to forward and backwards. R is still mapped to BD 1...
What do you expect to see? I need to know how I fix this so I can play with K+M

Tonight spontaneously, the keyboard mouse i've been using for over 100 hours of gameplay are not working.  The mouse works fine, and so do "D" and "R" but W-A-S and apparently the "e" key to interact have been reassigned to 3, 6, ? and ??? Not sure how to fix this...

Things I've tried:

quitting to menu

quitting to desktop

restartking computer

plugging in controller and using that for a while (which works, but not what I prefer) and then trying to use keyboard again...
