What's the best chair?

Gaming chairs vs. office chairs? What brand do you like? Why? Thanks!

  • @Mithrilynn hard for me to turn down the gaming chair since I haven't noticed a larger footprint in my office. Tall, firm back, lumbar can go anywhere. Now all I need is an integrated toilet so that I never have to stop gaming

Im of two minds and im not sure.

Ergonomically speaking, I find most fancy gaming chairs do better than office chairs.

I recently bought a ThunderX RCB chair and I think it is doing okay for now.  It went together easy, has movable back and neck support and the cushion has gottenc omfortable.  It seems durable and sturdy.  Ive had it for a month.

When it was fresh out of the box the cushion was VERY stiff and I did not actually enjoy it at first.  Took about a week to "break in".   NOw it is very comfortable.  However that being said I have noticed and started to wonder if the cushion is actually going to hold up over time because it has gone from stiff to cushiony in such a short space of time.  I also feel like the front edge is alreadys tarting to "squish" a little - so I am undecided as to how long it will last at this point.

    On the other side:

WHen I started working from home a few years ago, for Occupational Health and Safety regulations, I HAD to go out and buy a office chair that met certain standards,  durability  rated  chair.  It had to have a high end hydraulic for the seat and other build specifications.

The cushion on THAT chair is way more comfortable than this THunderX.  And it still has held up over a few years with no indicationt hat the padding in the seat has changed at all.  Its seriously comfortable to sit on.  BUT  it just doesnt have the same ergnomic feel as the ThunderX

I think over time, i will have wished the THunderX used the padding/cushion material of the other chair.

  • Herman Miller, by far the best chairs I've ever used ( and I've had a lot). Currently 2 Mirra 2s in my office.

  • There isn't a chair that you can name the best. It all depends on the shape of your body and what height are you. For example, the most important thing for me in buying a chair for sitting in front of the computer is for it to be soft, and for me to have a correct form of the back while sitting on it. I work in an office, and I spend a lot of time in front of the computer, so this is why I use a good office chair, for not to develop scoliosis. Of course, not everything depends on the chair, because it is also recommended by the doctor to make some movements at least once in an hour.

  • Personally, I believe the type of chair doesn't matter, just that it is well designed. If a chair is comfortable I am more likely to sit in it for longer and enjoy gaming much more! I would recommend this company for office and gaming chairs: https://www.theworkplacedepot.co.uk/chairs, due to their ergonomic design and good prices! I recently bought one of these chairs and I havent left it since, I could probs sit on it all day in front of my monitor playing Valorant.
