Why do I get an error message saying "Account does not meet minimum requirements" when I try to login to my EA account in Star Wars Battlefield?

Actually, one of the most common causes for that message is trying to play the game with an account registered to a player who is less than 16 years old.
@Gorath_the_Elder, 16? is that the issue? I get that message too for my teen's sub-accounts (both 14yrs old). They haven't been able to play multiplayer online. Why is it 16 when the game is rated 'T' which is 13+?
What's the solution then? recreating my kid's accounts to be 16 yrs old?
