Will the AMD graphics card in a new 15 inch Retina Mac run Battlefront?

I have a new 15 inch Retina Display MacBook Pro running Windows 8.1 on a Bootcamp partition. It has an Intel Iris Pro Graphics processor and an AMD Radeon R9 M370X graphics processor with 2GB of GDDR5 memory and automatic graphics switching.

All other recommended specs are good to run the game, but can you tell me if the AMD graphics card is sufficient?

  • I think you will get into problems if you run at high resolutions (Retina) - I don't know how low resolution a Mac can go so don't know if that's a problem.

If you look at the benchmarks for the card for Battlefield Hardline that is a pretty good indicator of how it should perform in Battlefront.

    Carbonic, thanks for the reply.

I did actually find this link as well but could barely make any sense of it. But reading through it again and doing some research on the technical terms it seems my Mac will run Battlefront but better at a lower resolution. After further reading from a review on the Mid 2015 MacBook Pro 15 inch from these guys: http://www.notebookcheck.net/Apple-MacBook-Pro-Retina-15-Mid-2015-Review.144402.0.html I found out that after prolonged gaming in Windows the GPU can't maintain its clock rate of 800MHz. This happens at high temperatures of the GPU and the frame rate drops.

That said I'll still pre-order the game and if I get issues I can return it through Origin after a short grace period.

Your info was a great help and now I'm much enlightened

    Thanks again :eahigh_file:

Thank you Fred. That was actually one solution I had thought of.
