Xbox button prompts when using PS4 controller

Product: Star Wars: Squadrons
Platform:PC
Please specify your platform model. PC
What is your gamertag/PSN ID/EA Account name? Fred_vdp
Are you playing in VR? No
Which part of the game is the issue happening in? Other
Please explain 'Other' Everywhere
What were you doing when the bug occurred? Step by Step detail is helpful. I'm using a PS4 DualShock controller, which the game seems to support natively.
Where did this issue occur? Please include menu name or in game location. Everywhere
When did this happen? (dd.mm.yy hh:mm) Always
How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%)
How severe is your issue? Can play, but it's highly frustrating
What happens when the bug occurs? I'm using a PS4 DualShock controller. Despite the game natively recognizing the controller (meaning I don't use third party software for Xinput emulation), I get Xbox button prompts instead of PlayStation ones.
What do you expect to see? PlayStation button prompts. I get Xbox button prompts instead. Everything works, but it's very confusing. X is called A, Square is called X, and so on.
Which ship were you playing? If not applicable, just answer "no" or "none." TIE Fighter
What components were you using? Irrelevant
Which customizations (if any) were you using? Irrelevant

Thanks!

  • I had a different experience using the Steam version of the game: the button assignments were all wrong until I set the controller as a DS4 in the steam settings. E.g. square was confirm, x was back - gross. Obviously they were still being displayed as xbox-prompts but at least I could navigate the menus.

I don't think I've ever played a released game with bugs like this before... so disappointing.

And no it really shouldn't be difficult for them - they already have all the icons too from the PS4 version.

  • Hi there, I may have a simple solution for you guys.
Step 1: Disable all the configuration support
Step 2: Connect your DualShock to your PC via Micro USB cable (Bluetooth won't work!)
Step 3: Voila! Your PC should recognize your controller in PlayStation configuration now.
    Step 4: Enjoy your game!

  • For those who still have the problem here is how to fix it after disabling all the configuration support go to steam big picture , Library, Go to FIFA , Manage Game , Controller Options, and Change Steam Input Per-Game to FORCED OFF, it worked for me this way, I hope that can help you too
