Xbox controller key bindings got messed up on PC Origin

I have a similar issue but this happened after I changed batteries in the controller

I have a gen 9 XBox controller and i here is what happened

Batteries run out, I have rechargable AA batteries so i swapped them for freshely charged ones. Before the batteries ran out, the controller was working fine on wireless connection, buttons and everyithing was working properly and with the proper layout. After the batteries swap, the lay out got busted and the A button goes right, X button takes the menu, the Menu button takes the function of the A button and this happens from the very start of the game in the main menu, gets worst in the hangar area and in game its impossible to play due to the key functions being all messed up. Checked the settings and the key bindings and everything is as normal, default settings nevertheless the kay functions are still messed up in game.

Nevertheless this happens on wireless connection only. If i plug in the controller with the USB type C cable to the PC, then the buttons go back to normal and everhting works properly and according to the key bindings in the settings menu

I've tried unlinking and linking back the controller to the pc like 4 times, repairing the game files, reinstalling the game, updated controller firmware. Still got the same problem which only seems to get fixed while connected with a USB cable. All other games like Jedi Fallen order, Halo, GTA the controller works as it should.

I've got the Origin version of the game, if it has anything to do.

So any help would be really appreciated.

  • My issue is similar, but with different results to the new key bindings,

In my case, I have the white XBOX One Wireless and Cabled controller for my PC.  Controller Model 1914.  This controller takes removable AA and rechargable AA batteries.

When wired via USB-C to USB-A 2.0 Male, the controller buttons worked just fine.

The moment I paired it to my gaming PC's bluetooth, the A button no longer works for selecting.  The A Button now cursors UP ?   The B Button now goes Down, and X button sometimes acts like the A Button.   Very strange and I haven't been able to resolve the issue.

When I was in a game's Controls menu, I did a test to reset 'select' to A, but when I pressed A, the D-Pad Up Button is translated.  So something is wrong with the internal bindings / settings / programming of the controller.   I may run hardware troubleshooter but beyond that, I suppose I can re-pair the controller.
