BD1 not working on rooftops

I just started playing and when I get to the rooftops with Bode, my BD1 doesn’t register that it needs to do anything with the zip line. It doesn’t even give me the hint of pressing the down arrow to activate him like I’ve seen in tutorials I’ve found. Trying to figure out what to do so I can play the game.
