I'm having the same issue since today's update or what I think is an update. Loading into EA launcher it appeared to install, verify game files and then clean up, but control panel still shows version 1.0.0.4 During this time the game install was showing 256gb before returning to 130gb. The game loads but now crashes after a few mins. Same settings as yesterday (last patch?) which had bad performance but no crashes. Trying to play on a 3080, 5600x, 32gb setup on an SSD but it's a bad experience. Thankfully i'm playing via Play Pro rather than wasting £50.
