High ram usage

I'm about to upgrade my GPU and power supply after just upgrading my CPU and RAM.

I wanted to take some performance readings first with my current setup. My game is being run at medium preset with AMD Fidelity FX Super resolution 2 on quality setting.

Windows 10 graphics setting is set to run the game on high performance mode. Monitor is set to 2560x1440p(native) 144hz.

Here is a link to my specs:

Attached screenshots show current performance when run with these settings, note the ram usage.

  • @Nagadango  That's interesting.  I wonder if the game is (now) allowing itself to use as much RAM as is available, up to a very unreasonable point, in an effort to optimize performance.  For comparison's sake, I saw an increase in memory use on Koboh from patch 1.02 (red) to 1.04 (green), but not nearly that high, on a computer with 16 GB memory:

If you're interested in any further testing, I'd be curious to know what the game would do with only one 16 GB module installed.  I know it would be bad for performance, and I'm not asking you to test if you're not interested or don't have time, but you've piqued my curiosity.

@puzzlezaddict Thanks for the interest, here's my new parts after upgrading my GPU and power supply:

I tested this setup with only 16 gb of ram and experienced a significant performance hit. Settings run at high preset, I saw textures fail to load and some npcs popping in. Grass was popping in too and not effected by any lightsaber attacks. No crashes though which I guess is a plus, my guess is because of the extra vram on my new card. Keep in mind too I can run this on epic with consistent 40-70 frames and no graphical glitches. Final picture is the place where my game would crash everytime.

Anyways I don't feel like going back to my old card to see if it would crash on 16gb of ram and 6gb of vram. I'm gonna overclock my card and see if I can get it at 70-80 fps with epic settings.
