How to change the install location via EA app?

I don't know why, but the latest update for me is saying 112GB? What is going on?

I have Jedi Survivor downloaded on the EA app but didn't expect an update to happen, and now I have no space for it on my c drive. Is there anyway to move the download to another drive or does it all have to be on the same one?

Also, if I were to delete the game and install all of it onto another drive does that mean all of my saved game data will be wiped?

Thank you!

Edit: so I changed the download path via settings to d drive and the game is still downloading via my c drive. Why isn't it changing?

  • Hello @3dRes

First off, let me start by saying welcome to EA’s “Answer HQ”.
Answer HQ isn't just an ordinary message board or support center. It's a new approach to our community experience and a fun way of helping other players or getting answers (from players & experts)and getting back in the game!

I can see, you already solved the problem here in your other topic:

Besides what you wrote there, we have the following useful topic:

    PowerShell

    .\EAappInstaller.exe /i DefaultInstallFolder="D:\Games\Electronic Arts"

    Hi @3dRes,

It is not recommended to manually try to install the install directory of the EA app via some Powershell (or other) command. The EA app currently doesn't officially support being installed in another location besides the C drive.

If you would like to move the game from one drive to another, removing the game from your system and re-downloading it to the directory of your choice is recommended. You can choose a different game install path when downloading the game.

  • It takes me days if not a week or two to download, why is this still not a thing we can do, you could do it on origin?

It takes me a few seconds to drag something from one hard drive to another.

Steam has this option to change where installation/opening location is, even Epic does, why can't this be implemented.

  • I need to do this same thing..Move games to a different drive... None of my games are listed on my computer as apps to unistall/remove, so how do remove them from my computer? just find the folder EA app is looking at and delete? I need to move to a different drive because the one EA downloads to is almost full.

  • It doesn’t work, when I go to change the folder into wich games are going to be installed, it simply doesn’t refresh the page and change the folder, it’s always only stuck on the same folder that the app choose, I solhould I do? I paid for a game and can’t download it since the folder is in c and I don’t have enough space in c, but I got 2 other drive with more then enough space, but the app won’t let me choose a different drive for installation, only c

  • So, let me get this clear. EA has made it so I can only install their launcher on my C: drive? There is no other way to change it to a different drive, despite the option being available in the install app? Why is this the case? My C: drive is not an option here; my PC is set up so specific files go to specific places. I don't want the app or the service if I cannot customize the install location. This is a big mistake on EA's part and a deterrent from buying anything from them in the future. Is there a solution or not?

Absolutely agree. I do not understand the logic behind this choice. I have a specific drive for games. It is NOT my C: drive. The fact that we can change the games vs the app itself is even worse. I'd like to keep this stuff together instead of spread across multiple drives. Let me decide where it works best for me to install a program.

So the community staff are actually lying about being locked to the C: drive. I don't know why they are but you can absolutely install battlefield on other drives, I have it on my E: drive (12TB HDD) and have switched it around before. I'm pretty sure I just moved the files to the destination I wanted and ran the application from that location (not through the launcher but through the actual files), but I can't remember. It IS possible to run it from places OTHER than the C: drive though, also posting a link to a photo to prove it.
