LowLevelFatalError [File:Unknown] [Line: 686] DxcDllHelper->

Good afternoon

I recently bought the game Star Wars Jedi Survivor, and when I start the game, it plays the first animation, and then the game crashes, showing the problem below.

LowLevelFatalError [File:Unknown] [Line: 686] DxcDllHelper->CreateInstance(CLSID_DxcCompiler, Compiler.GetInitReference()) failed at D:/depot/r8branches/r8release/Engine/Source/Runtime/D3D12RHI/Private/Windows/WindowsD3D12PipelineState.cpp:663 with error E_NOINTERFACE

I opened a support ticket today and followed all the troubleshooting steps suggested below, without success:

  1. Disable overlays
  2. Verify the integrity of the files via Steam
  3. Remove other background programs, leaving only EA Games, Steam, NVIDIA, and other computer driver programs
  4. Check if Visual C++ was up to date
  5. Check if Windows was up to date
  6. Set the power settings in the NVIDIA control panel to maximum performance to run the game
  7. Disable ray tracing (From what I saw in the EA panel, it was already disabled)
  8. Perform a clean boot on my PC
  9. Clear the game cache
  10. Update my graphics card driver
  11. Update NVIDIA Really Drivers
  12. Run dxdiag and check if there were any issues with DirectX

My computer configuration:

Intel® Core™ i7-8750H Coffee Lake, 9MB Cache (2.2 GHz until 4.1 GHz with Intel® Turbo Boost)

NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 1060 GPU (6GB GDDR5)

32 GB of RAM memory

I have attached the crash files for analysis, along with some other screenshots to help.

Can you assist me in identifying what is happening and why this error is occurring?

  • A screenshot of DXDIAG does not provide much info. You need to attach the report as described here.

    Thanks for attaching the report. It helps.

    That I7-7700HQ is really testing the lower allowable CPU per system requirements. The regular I7-7700 is the minimum Intel CPU. The I7-7700HQ is actually not as powerful, so there is an argument that you are trying to play on unsupported hardware.

    Your DXDIAG suggests you are using an external monitor to play and your GTX 1070 is the GPU being used with your external monitor. (This is good.) I would confirm the game is actually using that GTX 1070, as laptop gamers often find they're mistakenly playing with the (unsupported) onboard graphics.

    All your game files (and saves) are on your C drive, yes? (E drive has no more space.)

    If you look at the Diagnostics section towards the bottom of the report, you will see multiple issues. I suggest you look into those, as those issues may be impacting multiple aspects of your system, including this game.

    Let us know how you do.
