@Gonfuzza I think the phrase "speak with your wallet" has a lot of validity here. And again, given EAs reputation, and the state of "triple A" titles... it's reasonable that one would expect someone to do more research than "Mark Hamill played it for 30 seconds or less on tv."
I agree that responsibility for the dilemma squarely falls on EA (and respawn) like I said, I just think it's awfully entitled to come in yelling at the devs when no one here "had" to buy the game.
Of course there are laws, but I don't have the funds to pay for a class action lawyer, and... lol if this is the ruckus 70 bucks causes... do you think anyone else does? By all means report them to the BBB(lmao) file an FTC complaint (lol) go about that legal process, I'll join in the class action.
But none of these publishers ever get censured or punished for their blatant lies and broken products, and the current state of "live service" games provides them an excellent loophole, so does the fact you don't own the software, just the license. They're pretty well insulated. You paid for a license to access the software in perpetuity under continual development. Easy fix, you agreed to the EULA.
Follow your local consumer protection laws, seek a refund, and follow up if you want legal accountability, that is your only real option. Refund till fixed.
It's certainly not the consumers fault this particular title doesn't work. It is certainly the consumers fault that EA still has funds to continue their tried and true dumpster fire tactics. (Myself included). If no one buys their garbage and demonstrated a modicum of self restraint and made Informed purchases about their hobby, the state of gaming wouldn't have gotten to where we are today.
We can agree to disagree, but I think we're on the same page, this just isn't my first time experiencing this or going through it. And I no longer have the naivete of a youngling ;p
Complain as you will, just don't shout at the devs, they did their best with the resources and time they were alotted I'm sure, and like I said when it works it's great. Certainly they deserve their shame but they're currently living it, the only way you hurt their corporate master EA is by refunding and refusing to buy till its fixed or discounted. Otherwise folks are just shouting at mods with no power, and devs who are stressed and upset that their work of art is not as cohesive as they planned.
