"Something went wrong..." Launching from Epic Games

See attachment, but I get the error "Something went wrong...To continue linking your EA account, head back and start over." in an EA popup window when trying to launch Survivor for the first time from the Epic Games Launcher. I am never prompted to login with my EA account when I try to install through the Epic Games launcher, this error pops up before I'm given the chance. I know that this error has some discussion and accepted answers in the forums, but none of the troubleshooting steps that I've seen have worked for me. Here is everything that I've tried so far:

- Cleared Epic Games launcher cache in File Explorer and reset app data in EA launcher
- Try running launchers as administrator
- Uninstall and reinstall both the Epic Games and EA launchers multiple times

- Let Epic Games launcher install the EA launcher
- Reset my EA account password
- I do not see Epic Games under my EA account "Connections" tab, and I also do not see EA under my Epic Games "Connected Apps"

It's the same error everytime, no matter what. Please let me know what steps I should be trying.

  • Hi there, @nieco100

This error normally means you're trying to link an account that is already linked to an EA account. An advisor can let you know if that's the case or not. To get in touch with one, please follow the instructions here for opening a case. Thank you.

  • Unfortunately no. What worked for me was this: when a popup wanted me to login (I was already logged in, so again I logged off; I tried everything the internet suggested, reinstalling both apps, no linking option available, etc.), I typed my login, and then I clicked "I forgot my password." After creating a new password, everything went straight forward. It's a bug, not a user problem. Now, in my EA account settings, I have EPIC GAMES linked; Epic was not present there before.
