Steam/EA cross save

Hello, my question is regards to have this game handles saved progress.
I want to start playing the game with EA Play Pro and then buy the game on Steam. My question is if saves will be shared in cloud of the respected platform on which I will play, or if they will be stored locally, so that I can start playing with EA Play Pro and then continue with my copy on Steam.
I hope this makes sense.

Thanks for the answers.

    Hey @AleksFrezen,

    Good question indeed.

To my knowledge, if you buy a game via Steam, it saves the progress in the Steam cloud rather than via the EA app. So purchasing the game double, via Steam and EA app, would most likely result in different progress saves.
  • Hi, is this confirmed already? I want to have the game on Steam, but for now I just want to try it and see how it works with the EA play Pro. But if it's confirmed that I would lose my progress when I buy it for Steam, then I would rather not to pay the EA pass for 15€ just for checking so. I was wondering if Steam game needs to connect anyway to EA platform to play the game, the save would be compatbile, either local or cloud. But if not.. then GG.

  • @Kirindae_7 honestly I'd say save your money all the way and wait for them to release patches for performance and to restore full stance-switching. Currently, the game has a 2 stance limit that tacks on a lot of time walking back to save points to experiment with the stances. And since it's designed to be an all-in-one lightsaber that would eliminate that kind of problem, it's a huge impedance to immersion along with not being able to draw your blaster unless you have that stance equipped. And then there's the hit to gameplay; Fallen Order gave you access to all your stances, albeit only two at the time, plus two additional dual-wielding attacks and a stance-switching attack that encourages you to use both styles, ironically giving this game less combat variety than the first game. Even though Survivor has 5 full stances, you are strictly limited to two with no additional stance attacks, no stance-switching, and no combo variation. I would highly recommend waiting until after a patch that restores all 5 stances before playing this game for the first time. 2 stances only is not a good representation of what this game has to offer.

@GunpeiYaBoi I know, everything seems to be broken in all ways, but as a fallen order fan, I'm really hyped and want this new game. I know I'm not going to play it at it's best performance if I play it today, and I hope someday soon it will be fixed. But as I have the option to play it as a kind of "renting", I want to try it for now, and I want to know if my progress will be saved or not. I know I shouldn't pay for the game for the moment.
  • @Kirindae_7 I hear that. my own obsessive compulsion dragged me into finishing the game, and even after maxing out all the stances and force abilities, the issues from only having two stances never go away. It's completely turned me off of going for 100% or playing NG+ until they implement some kind of stance-swapping method for all of the styles. otherwise, it would have been one of the most fulfilling Star Wars experiences I've ever had.

@GunpeiYaBoi Well mate, finally the hype beat me and I subscribed to ea play pro for giving it a try. Honestly, I'm shocked with the performance by far, don't know if it will be much worse when I leave the first scenario, but I started with all settings on max, ray tracing and fsr (not dlss? wow) on "quality" and yes, I'm not having the best performance, there's some stuttering and fps drops sometimes, but everything is good in general terms.

What you say, I know right? I just have the 2 first stances so I still didn't have to change anything but I realize what you say.

And for keeping the thread, I'm still wondering if I will be able to restore my save when I buy the game, maybe on steam or epic, if there's a way to keep the local save (and if it's compatible), or I will just lose my progress. I think I will beat the game in a month, but I would like to keep my progress for the future, cause I know I will get the game for my library sooner than later.
  • @Kirindae_7 for real, I wouldn't be here if there wasn't a dope Star Wars game at the heart of the experience. But the lightsaber irks me and probably a lot of other people because this is the one game where after Cameron Monaghan, the lightsabers are kinda the star of the show. I was kinda getting used to it at first, but the longer the game drew on and I got more stances, the more I had to hike to change my lightsaber, and the more the game dangles the concept of an all-in-one lightsaber in front of you, both in cutscenes and finishers when Cal uses whatever configuration he pleases, and literally off of his belt for the entirety of the game where you can see how easily he should be able to just use every stance :c Don't get me wrong, I'm glad what's there is an enjoyable game, but please consider as you play it, what could have been without this one arbitrary limitation.
Also in keeping with the thread, I agree wholeheartedly that this game should support cross-save, especially if it will allow me to carry over my pre-order bonuses, because right now I'm having to consider whether or not to buy the game again to have access to the mod that restores all 5 stances to you, and I heavily use a lot of those Obi-Wan parts in my customization.
