Manually check for any available game update as follows:

Highlight a game thumbnail in your games home and press the options button to display the options menu.
Select Check for Update. If an update is available, follow the instructions to install the update.

I don’t know if you read anyone else’s but when you check for an update it says that it is fully updated and no updates are available. WHAT NOW!

I bought the game today on PS5 and am having exactly the same issue. Played first hour now stuck on the ship saying needs patch. All seems installed so I fully uninstalled the game and reinstalled and still have the same stuck issue? Whats the fix for this?

  How I fixed this issue..
  I tried everything from resetting the licences to restoring data on PS5 and reinstalling and nothing worked.
  Finally I gave up and the following which fixed the issue..
  Turn of ps5
  Hold on button until you get two beeps
  you will then see like a PS5 version of Safe Mode.
  I selected Option 7 "Reset PS5"
  This reset my PS5 to factory defaults
  Logged back into the PS5
  Reinstalled the game and finally it worked.
  Hope this helps someone.
