Sudden performance degredation

I was playing on high settings , 1440p with nvidia Dlss performance I7 8700, 3700rtx 16gb ram. I'm 33 hours into the game loaded it up Monday evening and suddenly I'm stuck in some horror 10fps slide...

    So I've resolved the issue, but i'm not convinced that what i knowingly did was what fixed it.

    I deleted the Gamesettings.ini file amid changing all kinds of settings and now i seem to have decent performance back. Can't seem how that would work seeing as I deleted and reinstalled the whole game unless that file wasn't removed?

    Thought I'd mention it anyway just in case it helps someone.
