150+ms on DM from usual 12. Can anyone help make sense of this?

Hi.

Used to be I had 12 ms on Euro servers. Latency increased in past few months but got very bad now.

MS on Darth Malgus / Tulak Hord:   150-200+

MS on Leviathan:  40

Star Forge:  100+ (!!!!!)

My latency is lower on an American server. -_-

Can anyone make sense of the attachement? Any other information I can provide?

Up is darth malgus hops. Bottom is leviathan.

I live 150km from the server... : /

If anyone could look into this and give me a hand. I'd so much appreciate. I was suggested to try logging into SWTOR through vpn but I am kinda scared. ;p So far I was advised that my connection decides to hop through a broken server along the way which results in high latency. I'd like to know what's going on and whether it's something that I can fix or something that I can't do anything about.

Can you use www.pingplotter.com and have that graphing while playing and then save that graph as a jpg and insert here as a picture or attachment.

tracert captures a single instance in time and may miss other things, pingplotter is handy in that it has a better chance to capture trends while the issue is occurring.

There are some thing obvious in the tracert but there are some things that may be needed to be investigated but pingplotter should help determine if that is the case or not.

using the free trial of www.wtfast.com is worthwhile and it has a graph of its own that shows before and after

  • Hello Owen, you legend. :> I

I don't really know how to operate this thing and what you're looking for.

I showed it to one friend, by no means an expert but a bit more familiar. His conclusion was "Good luck explaining to bioware that one of that their IP (159.153.72.42 ) is broken and they should fix it. Try VPN, it should actually help in this case."

googling this IP reveals some people have tried what I did and it pops up in their complaints about high latencies in swtor.

    bump for help :/

tried flush dns to no avail.

I really shouldn't have this problem given how far away i live from the server.  My game experience is significantly affected as i play the niche ranked pvp.

Your friend is sorta right, but the issue can be a number of things including a bad return path, mind it does show the issue is close the EA gateway and could be anything from a hidden backbone router has issues due to demand or cable breakage etc

will flag it for their network team though

only thing you can try is the wtfast.com i find it is better and easier then a VPN but if it finds a good route into the server , it isnt the gateway for sure

    hope that helps

  • Thanks. Hopefully someone can look into it but i honestly find it doubtful. Best thing i can do is try out wtffast at some stage in the future, i guess. <3

    bump.

It's been many months and issue is still not resolved.

Can that poxy server be looked at? It gets worse as evening hours approach and on many days I am not able to play ranked pvp because of the ping. This is not a problem on my side unless someone has ideas and solutions for me to try.

    Please.

Is it possible for customer service to prevent my account from going through that broken server in some way?
