Any help or explanations relating to downloading latest patch would be quite helpful. Download speed starts out strong and then fades to under 10 KB/s or stopping completely. I have been trying to download this patch now for over 2 hours. Nothing wrong with my machine or internet as I have tested both. Any help would be appreciated.
if the antivirus/firewall isnt affecting it , about all you can do is to reboot your router/modem and retry

I find myself having the same problem trying to download the patch today.
My firewall is not blocking SWTOR (it never has, and this is the first time I'm having this issue).
Wi-Fi and router are operating just fine. Really unsure what to do here.
what exactly does it do , does it start at all ?

where a download falls to low this can be due to a number of things including the antivirus , but it could also be due to packet loss on the connection
I can elaborate, no problem.
Upon logging into the client, the progress bar starts off saying "Downloading 133.5 MB remaining" with a fairly strong download speed, just as OP also explained (somewhere around 8MB/sec), then it immediately drops off to nothing within seconds, seemingly stopping altogether. As I type this, my progress bar looks like this.
Previous updates and patches have not given me this problem, even with the same exact internet and associated hardware.
I left it open last night for about an hour, just to see if anything would happen, but there were no changes.
I've since reset my router again just in case, but no change. Unsure how to check my connection for issues there otherwise.
EDIT: Please know I'm running the regular client, this is not through Steam.
can you check that there is free hdd space on your c drive and destination drive
Yes for both. Around 50GB free on C, and several hundred GB in the destination drive.
what antivirus are you using ? and is launcher.exe specified in the exception list ?
I'm using Avira (free version), which does not have its own Firewall system -- there is no exception list.
launcher.exe is specified in the Windows Firewall exceptions.
Saw to try running compatibility mode as Windows 8, but this setting didn't change the outcome.
what about the antivirus exception list ?
