Galaxy Map Comes up Black

When I open the galaxy map, my screen goes black.  I can still see the text for whatever I'm mousing over.  There are also some other texture layers that appear to be missing e.g.  the letter icon over mailboxes.  The typical response I've seen online is to repair my files, but I've tried that and also done a full reinstall and had no success.  My graphics drivers are up to date.
