try Sigmatel Audio system tray or C-Major Audio
right mouse click on the task bar, open task manager, and see if you can find it listed in the task manager
See here for what to look for (don't click anything on that page, link is just info to what to look for)
I've looked all over the task manager, and I can't find anything named sttray64.exe.

I've also done a Windows Defender scan. No malicious software was found.

Followed the instructions in that video, game still unplayable.

Tried reducing graphics, still crashed.

if you push the windows key and type reliability monitor, open reliability monitor what is getting listed
- Mistermovieman10 years agoRising Adventurer
It keeps saying "No Solution Found." Honestly, this is getting ridiculous.
- proxos66610 years agoHero+
What events are listed , double click on the event line to the left where it says check for solution it will provide more details of the events , that info would be handy
- Mistermovieman10 years agoRising Adventurer
I did click "Check for Solution." That's when it kept saying "No Solution Found." Would a developer please try to help me?
- proxos66610 years agoHero+
I think your misunderstanding , not wanting you to click on the "check for solution"
if you click the line itself you get details like the pic below
If your looking for bioware support and your a subscriber send an email to support@swtor.com
- Mistermovieman10 years agoRising Adventurer
I just clicked it, and it said there was a problem and didn't load. I tried it twice. And no, I'm not a subscriber. Don't the Developers post here too, like on World of Warcraft?

Run Malwarebytes here to be certain
not sure why you cant find sttray64.exe. it is listed multiple times in the dxdiag
as to the reliability monitor , by the sounds if it isn't working correctly either and is a concern
without details along the line of at least the below in the spoiler it makes it difficult

I'm very wary of installing anything else. Windows Defender should have been able to find it.
- proxos66610 years agoHero+
Windows Defender will never find things that Malwarebytes does, its the same for my AV (Trend Micro with Windows Defender) on my PC .
This is one of the best programs you can ever use alongside any Anti Virus software
- Mistermovieman10 years agoRising Adventurer
I'll see it and tell you what happens.
- Mistermovieman10 years agoRising Adventurer
I installed Malwarebytes and did a scan. It removed some "potentially unwantable items," but the game froze before it could even load, and I had to click the power button to turn it off. Am I just an unlucky guy?

The latest HP video driver is here see if this resolves it
Edit - if the HP driver sorts it, then you will need to use this to hide the windows update intel driver
why the dxdiag show the below and cant find any trace is a conundrum

P1: sttray64.exe
P2: 1.0.6491.0

I didn't install my driver with Windows Update. I got it from the website. It was working fine at first.
- Mistermovieman10 years agoRising Adventurer
I want to check before intalling "ANYTHING" else. Are you 100% sure this is the latest driver? I went to the Device Manager, and it said my driver was up to date.
- Mistermovieman10 years agoRising Adventurer
So if I install this driver, I'll have to install something else to prevent the one I have right now from being installed again. Does that mean the one I have is the latest?
- proxos66610 years agoHero+
What is interesting is they also list the below sound driver
IDT High-Definition (HD) Audio Driver
this is what sttray64.exe belongs too, so it maybe worth installing their version of that driver as well.
- Mistermovieman10 years agoRising Adventurer
Ok, but do I really need that "Show or Hide Updates" thing? I'm wary about it. I'm not sure if it's necessary.

If you look at the known issues sticky at the top of this forum , Latest intel drivers are causing issues
the 4300 driver that you have is the current generic release from intel , 4248 is the latest release from HP , they are 2 totally different driver releases.
The Intel 4300 is generic , the 4248 is released by HP specifically for that laptop.

Only worry about it if windows auto updates the driver , if it doesnt then all good , if it does, its why they released that kb article to show people how to hide them.
- Mistermovieman10 years agoRising Adventurer
Well ,it doesn't. The only way drivers are updated on this computer is by going to the website and installing them. I'll check it out tomorrow.
- proxos66610 years agoHero+
I would do both the sound and video drivers from the HP website
that IDT sound driver I mentioned is the one appearing in the crash list in the dxdiag
