I added exceptions to BitDefender, but it didn't help. I haven't uninstalled it ... yet. I'll try that later on if nothing else works.
I ran dxdiag, but I don't see anything in it that would indicate the problem.
Perhaps I should try uninstalling the game (again), and installing via Steam instead.

given you say it briefly appears on the first step, i would like to know it isnt bitdefender 100%
example of bitdefender https://forums.swtor.com/topic/825175-launcher-not-responding/?do=findComment&comment=8852037
not sure if this matters https://forums.swtor.com/topic/825175-launcher-not-responding/?do=findComment&comment=8852810
- 3 years ago@proxos666 I really appreciate you trying to help me with this...
Well, I uninstalled BitDefender, and the game still didn't launch. I reinstalled the game, and still nothing.
My other, older desktop also has BitDefender, but SWTOR runs just fine.
Could it possibly be something stupid like WHERE I have it installed? I have Windows and all my important programs on C: (an NVME), and all my games are installed on a RAID-0 drive. I've only ever had one game give me problems because of this (Assasin's Creed Origins) - for whatever reason, that game HAS to be on the same drive as system (none of the other A.C. games do (??shrug??)). - proxos6663 years agoHero+
no, doubt its a location issue
can you drop the dpi settings back to 100% for a test
User DPI Setting: 192 DPI (200 percent) System DPI Setting: 288 DPI (300 percent)
will see if i can arrange the swtor team looking into this, to make contact with you for any additional info they need
edit: what is your swtor displayname ? - 3 years ago@proxos666 oh, I didn't even notice the DPI settings. I play on a 65" 4K screen, so I have my settings set so Windows isn't all super tiny lol
Location does not seem to be the culprit. I just tried it on C: to no avail.
I also set display to 100% also with no result to the game - proxos6663 years agoHero+
what is your swtor displayname ? can pass it to support if they need any other info
- 3 years ago@proxos666 Display Name = Cirayil

Can you do a search for a file called libcef.dll if one exists in a windows folder like wow64 delete it , this file should only exist in a program/ game folder
if a different version exists in the global file path issues can occur
- proxos6662 years agoHero+
you are aware the steam launcher appears to work ok for those with this issue ?
- 2 years ago
@proxos666
There's a bunch of that file.here's screenshots.
I was a beta player, and then a subscriber for the game's first few years, long before it was available on Steam, so I never installed it that way. I guess I'll try it, since nothing else is working.

@ImSoggyWaffles
libcef is meant to be in each respective program folder, so nothing looks out of place, but it depends on windows global file path
previously issues arose in folders like windows\syswow64 folder for example this folder was previously found with a libcef.dll that broke the launcher - 2 years ago
@DarthRoyX
Well, I finally insalled it from Steam... And it WORKS!
I would have preferred an actual solution that made sense for the launcher, but I'll definitely take it.
Thank you Proxos! - 2 years ago
So I've discovered a downside of using the Steam launcher. ONLY one account can ever use it.
This is a big deal for me, because my kids play too. They can't log on with their SWTOR accounts now.
We have two PCs, so I can play with one of them, but the two of them now cannot play together.
Any of us can use the launcher on the second PC, but my main one can now only be used by me (or by my account anyway... I could let them each make a character on mine I guess). It's a very annoying, and stupid restriction.

the only solution i see is they each need to have their own steam account login so they then they can each link swtor to each steam account

I have an HP laptop so I put SWTOR on a drive connected on the side because of size. I was going to retry to update my game from yesterday when I got that error I tried the DxDiag and this is what I got: https://hastebin.com/share/doqodisoli.yaml
