Launcher deleted itself and unable to reinstall

After playing normally even yesterday night, today I open the PC to notice that SWTOR launcher deleted itself somehow. I checked if the anti virus did it, nope, and its not in the recycling bin either. It just outright disappeared overnight. How do I recover that?

I tried launching the SWTOR setting to reinstall hoping I wont need to redownload everything - but even the installation executable dont want to cooperate, claiming

Failed access content disk

Write operation

Operating system error

Access denied

No my game is not linked to steam and I didnt download it from steam.

the 100% foolproof way to know its not the antivirus software

    1. uninstall antivirus program

    2. reboot

    3. try the swtor setup and see if it behaves ok

    4. reinstall antivirus program and try and work out why its blocking

  • I've been running this anti virus software for years (AVG) in conjunction with SWTOR and never had any issues. I see no recent update it made to explain this, nor does the SWTOR app deletion appears in its history log.

I should add that this just happened again today after I did a full reinstall of the game. After entering my login info, the launcher simply shut itself off - then, when looking for it, it again deleted itself. Running SWTOR_Setup gives me the same error message I reported earlier.

just to be clear, the swtor launcher cannot delete itself, something else is deleting it

my money is on the antivirus or windows security given the access denied
