Launcher Not Opening after update

Installed the latest patch yesterday and when i woke up today I clicked the launcher and instantly closes... please why?????????

It took me about 3 hours to update the game and when I had time to play it the launcher doesn't open, thats just great.

By the way I tried everything including deleting every swtor related file and still doesn't open.

Most issues "immediately" after a patch can stem from the antivirus or firewall

initially remove and re-add exceptions for launcher.exe to the exception lists

You can try running the repair utility - link over the top of that install in case the AV has quarantined something

there is also a log folder in the main game folder with dated launcher logs , what does the very latest ones show ?

Take the system to a clean boot per this link  see if the launcher appears - if using streaming leave any bitraider services enabled in the clean boot.

see if any change at present

  • Still nothing happens.. funny thing though, the launcher only opens when its after 7pm or 8pm.

I'm serioulsy freaking out right now this is getting ridiculous.

So the launcher opens after 7pm and works ok ?

I will have a think on this overnight - what sort of net connection ? have you tried using a VPN to see if any affect ?

What Antivirus and firewall is being used ? and is there a firewall on the modem ?

  • I use AVG for my antivirus, I already made exceptions to the whole folder.. My internet connection never gave me problems on swtor or any other game and i dont think there is a firewall on the modem.

This has already happened twice now... i havent started the game because i always tried to open the launcher before i went to bed just to see if it actually opens.

Not wishing to offend or upset.. just a thought.... "Parental Controls"????    Your not playing your game until your room is tidy, homework is done... eaten your vegetables sorts of things.. .. ..

If that was the case, it could be 'anything' ... it would have to be looked at on a much more personal depth and level...

I have friends that use these sorts of tactics on their kids.

  • I'm 21 and this is my personal pc... I dont go to bed at 8 of course but the first time it opened was at about 7pm and last time was at 1am (just before i went to bed)

That is still no excuse to not keep your room tidy or to not eat your vegetables...

Which part of the world are you in .. 'ball park'?... as certain ISP's have certain practices in different parts of the world  that others wouldn't consider.

As I would look at ruling out ISP throttling or blocking .. a DNS issue so to speak.... ie: if you had a laptop and it worked at a mates or the library and not at your house.. then it would be the physical location and the equipment used at that location that you would look into.

Is the Network settings for your PC switched from Private/Known network to a Public one.. where it just closes the door on the software?
