Hey I know this is a fairly common issue but the launcher fails to open after client install. So far I have tried the following: Adding all to exception lists of firewall and AV Using launcher upd...
Take the system to a clean boot per this link and see if the launcher appears, the bitraider service will need to be running to patch but the launcher should appear ok.
I did that and unfortunately it still does not launch, nothing happens unless I try to relaunch the launcher again where it says only one may run at a time
On a rare occasion , reinstalling the video driver is worthwhile.
The only other easy thing I can think of to check is to create a new windows administrator account user profile and log into that windows account, to test to see if the launcher appears, that user account can be deleted after testing.
The launcher is like a web browser in that it uses the chromium framework, which is why antivirus network settings and even sometimes browser extensions can cause issues.
But if nothing is blocking the launcher , then I would be looking at the C++ installs , in add/remove programs see if you can select modify then run a repair.
The only remaining step to see 100% if it is something in the normal boot , is to actually boot into safe mode with networking and see if the launcher appears, just to confirm 100% the OS side is good. The only way the launcher will patch in safe mode with networking though is to switch to non streaming per this guide link.
Okie dokie,
So the second windows account did not work so I reinstalled all my C++ Redistributable from 05 to 17 and the latest .Net Framework, so then I followed your instructions and edited the launcher.settings and ran the launcher in Safe mode, this worked and has now completed a full install of the game, I then reset back to normal windows and it still will not launch the launcher. As far as symptoms go nothing has changed.
I have also tried launching with both my Anti Virus and Firewall turned off with no success.
Anymore Ideas on what might help?
I am about to reinstall my video drivers to see if that might help.
Thanks in advance.,
So the Launcher finally showed up and installed everything in Safe Mode, that's something at least!
Now it's just a matter of figuring out what's happening between Safe Mode and Clean Boot that's preventing the launcher from showing up.
One thing I'll mention is that sometimes a proxy or VPN set up will prevent the launcher from starting properly. Go to Internet Options via the Control Panel, and from there go to the Connections tab and see if anything is listed in the "Dial-up and Virtual Private Network settings" box. This box is usually empty. Next, click on the LAN Settings button, and in the LAN Settings window, the only option that should usually be checked is "Automatically detect settings", with the other two checkboxes unchecked. Let us know if your set up differs from this.
