I am currently a preferred status and cannot level up to reach level 55 although I was subscribed last year. In addition to this, I also have access to shadow of Reven content. Do I have to resubscribe to level up past 54?

At this Time I would recommend timing the sub so that it include the last Chapter of KotFE that should be August 4th.
If he has access to Shadow of Revan content, he should be able to level up to 60, and even if he didn't have access to it, he should be able to reach 55, as thresholds for original game is 1 xp point short of 51, RoTHC access is 1 xp point short of 56 (not 55, 56), and Shadows of Revan should give him the ability to level to 1 xp point short of 61. However, a time card (2 month sub) starting on June 5 should hopefully fix things, and give access to all chapters of KOTFE.
