Really, you're going to blame them because you didn't use the item? And then deleted the character before making sure you had the item active on your account? Since you can sell those items in the GTN, you have to use them before they activate for your account. And you don't even want to take a few simple steps to fix the issue, instead you want to gripe and complain and blame them. No wonder CS is a little touchy, when they have to deal with this sort of attitude day in and day out.
Sorry that you lost the token, but the fix is very easy. 99.999999999% likelihood that token is still sitting in that deleted character's inventory, just waiting for you to use it. General rule of thimb, if you can sell/buy it on the GTN, you have to activate it from inventory to apply it to your account/character.
You could try a mail to support at swtor.com, be very nice, give all possible Information and you may get help.
The support is for paying customers so they are doing you an favor, remmember that.
