Makeb Crashing

Greetings.
My imperial character stuck on quest "Stealing Thunder" in Makeb storyline. During the start of conversation with Katha Niar game constantly crashes on desktop. Lovering settings, checking drivers, launcher repair and reinstalling the game isn't help. Seems like other quest and characters isn't affected. I'm suspecting that the problem in Windows 10, because since installation of this OS game have some minor lags and periodical crashings.
Does anyone familiar with this problem and can it be somehow solved?

  • Sure.

But I must say, that isn't mine PC, but SWTOR runs fine on it for nearly five years. And, as far as I know, there hasn't been any major updates to the system last days.

    Can you test this

[For others this is only to be used for a 32bit OS NOT for a 64 bit OS]

    To enable
1.Right-click Command Prompt in the Accessories program group of the Start menu. Click Run as Administrator.
2.At the command prompt, enter "bcdedit /set IncreaseUserVa 3072"
    (minus the " ")

3.Push Enter key and Restart the computer.

To disable after testing the game if no affect
1.Right-click on Command Prompt in the Accessories program group of the Start menu. Click Run as Administrator.
2.At the command prompt, enter "bcdedit /deletevalue IncreaseUserVa"
3.Push Enter Key and Restart the computer.

Edit - noting the above isn't specific for win 10,

short step is press the windows key and type cmd and then right mouse click on command prompt to open as administrator

  • Doesn't work. Game crush immediately after launching.
But after I had disabled this command and start game, I was finaly able to complete the conversation with NPC. Unfortunately, game crashed again soon after.
    Anyway, thanks for the help.

I believe the issue with swtor is tied to having 32 bit Windows 10 instead of 64bit, memory management is slightly different.

One of the the things that appears when you have this issue is a crash recording in kernalbase.dll as displayed in your dxdiag

See example thread  and another at this link

crashing is odd , can you retry that command with the below , I was not expecting an immediate game crash unless windows10 is different with the kernel requirements

    "bcdedit /set IncreaseUserVa 2500

The only other way I can think of is to use a 64bit OS instead of a 32 bit OS

The launcherlogs will only show the game is starting ok and that is it.
