Re: Game completely stops when trying to install on Windows 10.

There could be many reasons for this.

Try installing DirectX 9: http://www.microsoft.com/en-au/download/details.aspx?id=8109

SWTOR still uses DirectX 9 but Windows 10 comes with DirectX 12, and you may have problems when it tries to use the newer DirectX version for it.

Also, if your friend has a anti-virus program, you may need to add launcher.exe and swtor.exe to the exceptions list so they are not blocked.

And definitely make sure that the game is installed correctly; it may crash if some files are missing.

They are very iffy on changing too much and having their system messed up. I agree to a point that it shouldnt be this difficult to get the game running. Also how can there be files missing unless the file downloaded from EA itself is * up?

Of course, they have to decide what they feel safe doing to their computer.

What I meant by missing files is that there may be issues if you hit play before it has finished installing 100%.

Anyway, you can find most of the Windows 10 problems (and solutions) in this thread:

Maybe the replies in that thread will convince your friend that it's a good idea to install DirectX 9, other than that I cannot help you, sorry. 🤐
