the 100% foolproof way to know its not the antivirus software
1. uninstall antivirus program
2. reboot
3. try the swtor setup and see if it behaves ok
4. reinstall antivirus program and try and work out why its blocking
I've been running this anti virus software for years (AVG) in conjunction with SWTOR and never had any issues. I see no recent update it made to explain this, nor does the SWTOR app deletion appears in its history log.
I should add that this just happened again today after I did a full reinstall of the game. After entering my login info, the launcher simply shut itself off - then, when looking for it, it again deleted itself. Running SWTOR_Setup gives me the same error message I reported earlier.

just to be clear, the swtor launcher cannot delete itself, something else is deleting it
my money is on the antivirus or windows security given the access denied
