Repair Launcher and BitRaider

Why does it install BitRaider when I go to Repair Launcher?

The fact that I have to re-download the entire game just to get rid of BitRaider now is ridiculous. BitRaider should be optional.

The standard install includes bit raider as it uses the streaming client.  When you pull up the launcher if it says the letters ST then your using the streaming launcher.  To switch to the non-streaming launcher and to no longer have it come up follow the steps below:

NOTE this is a complete download of the game again

right mouse click on game shortcut and select open file location

open the launcher.settings file in notepad and locate the below line and edit to the below

    , "PatchingMode": "{ \"swtor\": \"SSN\" }"
    , "bitraider_disable": true

    SAVE the changes.

Delete the BitRaider, Movie and Asset folders then start the launcher.

The standard install post mid 2013 includes BitRaider, if you downloaded from the website.

I installed via the CE discs I still have from 2011. It doesn't include the BitRaider, but if you run the Repair Launcher thing then that installs BitRaider, and the only way to remove it is to redownload the entire game.

That isn't a very proper solution. I should have an option on whether or not to have BitRaider installed, seeing how I never agreed to it in the first place and it wasn't part of my original game installation.

In this instance the directions are slightly different, when you run the repairlauncher utility , do not let the launcher doing anything , shut it down

Do the same as below and edit the launcher.setting file to disable bitraider, don't delete any folders, then start the launcher

What occurs is when it switches to bitraider it will want to convert the current assets , stopping before this occurs and switching back to SSN , should be fairly painfree download wise.

Wait, so, edit the launcher.setting file then use the repairlauncher? Otherwise what's the point of just opening then shutting the repair launcher down before it does anything?

No edit the launcher.settings file after using the repair launcher , this is to check it hasn't swapped the settings to BR

As long as the files don't get converted then , swapping back to SSN will recognise the assets already there

Edit - For others reading, The below only applies to Non Streaming launcher , to repair Streaming launcher (Bitraider) details are here

Why are you using the launcher repair utility anyways ?

To refresh the core launcher files close the launcher, delete the file called retailclient_swtor.version and start the launcher

To repair game files, AFTER log in , click on the username on the top right and select settings then repair

    @Scottywon

To go from SSN to BR streaming

    , "PatchingMode": "{ \"swtor\": \"SSN\" }"

    Change to:

    , "PatchingMode": "{ \"swtor\": \"BR\" }"

    and

     ,"bitraider_disable": true

    Change to:

    , "bitraider_disable": false
