I agree in that I had high hopes too after the produce change. However, I do trust they are still trying to pull the game out of the tailspin, it's just a commentary on how far along the tailspin is. It might simply just take more time to undo the damage that was done.
It sounds like raiding was the core gameplay for you.
Strangely enough, although I was at the completely opposite end of the spectrum, I also felt like the aspects I liked got ripped out from under me around 5.0. It was my casual observation that people across almost all the playstyles felt as if what they loved about the game had been taken away. Now it feels like the game has been trying to give those things back but that it can't be done faster than the loss of goodwill and trust among many players.
Even though I don't do raids, I hope that raiders get what they need to enjoy the game soon. Even though it would likely mean waiting on things I like, I think it is a more difficult thing to pull off new raids than the cosmetic stuff that keeps me happy. Better to go ahead and start on that effort now I think.
