Sub cost?!

I got into the game when it launched. It was utter trash. I couldn't play the game because of HORRIBLE ( and i mean unplayable) FPS issues... but besides those issues I absolutely loved the game.  I came back a couple times when the game went F2P but the restrictions on F2P even turned me off (they were extremely strict.. I progressed in the story but VERY quickly the quests out leveled me...)

I came bac last week because I was bored and decided to try the new expansion. I'm Candian... for Wow I pay roughly 20$ a month for a sub.... I just recently looked at my CC bill and noticed... not my SWTOR sub, last weekish, I paid almost 50$...

Are you * kidding?!the price of a full game for the cheapest sub?! thats bonkers... Just so you know Bioware... I bought the CE, i placed A LOT of faith in this game and like Destiny.. you botched it... 50$ worth of subs for a month, even with exchange rates is * MADNESS. How aussies or other Canadians pay that is beyond me but this is * stupid.....

I know this wont mean much and I'll probably get flames out the * for this but I felt like I had to say something.... that literally blew my mind that a 20$ cost actually more then doubled just because of exchange rates. Granted I know its 29.99 which does make a little more sense.... expecting people to pay full price of a AAA game for a sub is stupid in my opinion.

I had a lot of hope for SWTOR when it was announced/came out.... I was even blaming myself for my computer not working with the game at first. How could BIOWARE screw it up THAT badly....

I give up... You are how many xpacs in (yeah you switched F2P) and you are charging THAT much.....

/sigh

I'm an aussie and think the price is acceptable, I pay more then the subscription cost for a burger and a drink , you have the option not to sub and play as preferred , it is a choice

not much else to say really

  • Unfortunately, it's not that simple.

As i have explained on the SWTOR forums, there are some big issues with current f2pain system.

In some EU countries, the monthly cost of subbing is the equivalent of 1 week of food resources.

Crippling F2Ps with absurdities like 350k credits limit while an ops pass is 2-3 times that only reduces the number of SUB players because they will be unable to play along with their f2p friends, Seen guilds disband due to this. The main thing that could bring back players is increasing the credit limit access for f2p/pref. At least 1mil is the minimum necessary for basics. Other MMOs offer 10 times that for free players and unlocks to 1 billion with just a cc-equivalent purchaseable unlock.

And instead of taking everything from 2fp/prefs, maybe the game should award subs more, not cripple the other ones. Good and better is way more nicer than crippled and not crippled.

There are many things that can be detailed here, which of most have been talked about on the official forums, but the situation remains overall a very sad one.

Wait, you have to pay conversion rates and whatnot? ^_-

They don't just let you pay in your own valuta?

I pay 12.99 euros a month, which is about 18 CAD....just like they pay 12.99 dollars in the US (I guess)

    How can they ask more?

By the single month, subscription is 14.99 USD, the 12.99 USD/month rate is how it breaks down if you pay 6 months at a time. That does sound odd that it would be that much, may want to give them a call and let them sort it out, they can be contacted via Skype at no cost, but I don't recall the details.

As for f2p/preferred/sub, I do agree that it should be base game for f2p with a healthy credit cap, a few more features for preferred, and then nice bonuses for subs, but then that would encourage people to stay f2p. I play another game that give their subs bonuses, and the preferred status there is decent enough that I stay at that level, because I can really only do one sub. As for Ops passes costing so much, that is the market, someone charged that much, some one was willing to pay it, and so the price stuck at a stupid level. On the other hand, I have a guildie that made millions selling them at 350k each when he had a glut of Cartel Coins. But, those prices are not set by the game, they are set by the players, game cost is 240 CC, the rest is buyers and sellers.
