Sudden Performance Drop: SWToR

Hey,

On 1 October 2015 I resubbed to Star Wars The Old Republic.

I played up to and including Tuesday 6 October 2015 with more than adequate frame rate (fps); the game ran really smooth.

I logged off on Tuesday night and shut down my PC; now from my point of view there had been absolutely no changes to my system or the game between shut down on Tuesday night and the next Wednesday morning.

Upon login on Wednesday 7 October 2015 I noticed a sever drop in frame rate; so bad that the game is practically unplayable.

I made a ticket and followed the support articles mentioned there as best I could where it was relevant. As it stands I've just about ruled out a problem on my end.

I've uncovered no issues regarding the CPU, GPU, Memory, Hard Disk, Drivers, DirectX, In-game Graphic Settings... I've followed the support articles, lowered graphic settings, updated drivers, all of which had absolutely no effect on the low performance issues. I've also determined it's not a temperature problem with CPU and GPU and it's worth noting that no other game is affected by this issue. Skyrim, Guild Wars, Saint's Row 4, World of Warcraft, MK9... none have any issues.

Latest test shows that the game starts off at 60+ fps and after 3-5 minutes of sitting idle (not even fighting or doing anything) fps drops to 20 and below; the highest I noted at this stage was 16 fps and the lowest was 5 fps. I cannot play the game under these conditions; this also rules out the graphic settings as a possible cause because if it was the graphic settings the game would start off low and stay low instead of starting high and then dropping.

After 2 tickets and a generic, frankly insulting, email response listing various links to support articles that have so far proved ineffective, I don't know what else to do. If it was an issue in World of Warcraft then Blizzard may have solved the issue by now or at least I'd have had proper correspondence with a service representative; frankly I would be ashamed to give this sort of customer service.

Please find attached my DxDiag; help me fix this issue since SWToR support seems to be of less help than a bullet to the face.

Simplest thing is uninstall avast see if the games are still the same

can always install avast again later

I haven't done that as there's already a marked improvement on CPU usage since the Avast Service thing was disabled in the clean startup.

I checked if Windows did updates on the days leading up to and since the last time it ran really well and it's not an update; prior to 09-10-2015 the last update Windows installed was in August.

Since it's only the online games being affected could it be an issue with Network components? I'm ruling out the card because if it was a failure there it would be immediate and complete rather than a slow degradation, but perhaps the fault is in the network cable itself?

If not, what else can I look at?

    No issues now.

I don't know how or why but there's no issue in SWToR at the moment. Whatever the problem was it's fixed... don't know what happened. Any ideas?

Don't know what it was; glad it's fixed though, whatever it is.

I'm really grateful for all your assistance though. It went above and beyond anything I've come to expect from anyone on the internet so thank you very much!
