Swtor doesn't work

is your currency like set as $ 1.000,00 instead of $ 1,000.00

Please try setting the region language and currency to English UK .....

Edit - Just to clarify , there is a known issue with the game if trying to launch when say currency is set as $ 1.000,00

Symptom is first loading screen before character selection is as far as it goes ....

the little circle in right down corner is moving, but nothing else is going on. I tried waiting, my patience run out in 15 minutes

I tried changing everything to UK, but it doesn't have any effect on SWTOR. Plus, I'm not sure my OS got that right. I did change language, location and timezone, then restarted my PC, and yet everything's still in Russian for some reason. I thought I didn't save the settings or something, but I did. 

This was Windows 10 ?

Yeah, Windows 10. I've never had any reason to change these settings, so I'm very confused right now

With it set to English Uk

Press the windows key and select "Settings"

then "region and language" and click "additional date time and regional settings"

then in the new window select "clock language and region"

then under region click the "change date, time or number format"

on the formats tab initially select English ( United States or UK ) on the drop down

then go into additional settings and press the reset button and select ok

big thing is that the currency displays as $ 1,000.00

Well, done that. But I think my currency setting always displayed as $ 1,000.00 Only with a symbol of Russian form of currency - ₽

And SWTOR still doesn't work

I can see swtor crashes ? likely closing on the stuck screen

I can see Asus Live Update crashed then I see Microsoft Com crashed at the start of it all.

When you did this upgrade to Windows 10 I can see for this system are a few updates at the

1. Newer Bios 207

2. Compatibility fix for the ATK package ( do you use this ? ) for Win 10 Upgrade

3. Compatibility fix for Asus Splendid for Win 10 Upgrade

I gather you have tried selecting both the 860M and the Intel4600 to load the game with ?

I have to close SWTOR using task manager when it gets stuck on the loading screen, and SWTOR thinks it's rude, so yeah. Don't know about other crashes though

As for updates - eh, well. I'm really bad with all that. I just thought that Win 8 sucked, so I updated it, but I didn't look at technical stuff. So all these compatibility things are something that was automatically installed along with the update, I didn't mess around with anything.

Do you think Win 10 is at fault here? If it is, it's weird. I mean, it was fine before, so why now

Do you have any other system to play swtor on to test if it does the same thing on your connection ?

Sadly, no. There are other computers with different OS in my house, but those computers aren't mine, which basically means that installing a goddamn huge game on them for testing is gonna be tricky. To say the least.

And my PC has only one OS. Maybe I could run an emulation of another system, but that is gonna be just as tricky for an average PC user like me. And I don't know if it will help at all

If it helps in theory you should be able to copy the entire game folders to a portable drive

connect that to the another PC and launch with launcher.exe

Want to try and narrow down if this is connection or system related

Firewall exclusions will need updating

If you have Windows 10 (*Similar Navigation for Windows 7/8 also type "Windows Firewall into the search click advanced).

Click on the "Notifications"

(The page looking icon in the bottom right down by your clock).

Then "VPN"

"Windows Firewall"

Now on the Left Hand Side "Advanced Settings".

Here in the Left Hand Top Corner you will see "Inbound Rules".

You will want to have all 3 exclusions for "Swtor Launcher.exe" "Swtor Bitraider.exe" and finally "Swtor.exe Retail"

*You may have to manually add these.

Click "New Rule" Top Right.

Program > Next>

This Program Path: > Browse> "Navigate to the desired *.exe listed above.  > Next

"Allow the Connection" << VERY VERY IMPORTANT.

"Tick all 3" >Next

"Give it a Name" > Click Finish

*Do this for all 3 exe's ensure that you do the same for "Outbound Rules" also.

**If you already have these exclusions then simply double clicking them 1 at a time to view their "properties" is enough to revalidate them.

**All that said I have manually changed all 3 exe's to run as administrator also by right clicking and selecting properties for each one, this in turn provides them with an elevated level to combat many of the new windows settings.

OK, use a program to completely remove the nVidia and Intel video drivers. It's called Display Driver Uninstaller and can be found here :

Remove both the Intel and NVidia driver.

If you had the impression the game was running in a "low" fps rate, this may very well be an issue with the Optimus * that deactivates the 860 GTX.

Reinstall the lastest Intel driver from the Asus site, and the most recent NVidia driver. The confetti should be gone and fps rate should be normal.

Certainly sounds as if you have a few settings issues going on with your Windows; could I suggest..

You will find a Great Tool down the bottom for addressing completely removing your Display Drivers so that you can re do them without the chance of corruptions occurring.

Thank you, but my laptop switched to energy saving mode for some reason, so it cause confetti and low fps. It's okay now

EDIT : OK, I wasn't far off, it was using the Intel card, Woody hit the nail on it's head. I had the issue with Optimus function *ing up because of an error in the Intel driver 🙂

Im going to recomend something different because I have had similar issues recently and found this fixed it for me. %Appdata% click appdata on the bar above and click local. Now go down to your SWTOR file and go into that file, open swtor in there and open settings and delete your client_settings.ini. Now close all that and launch your swtor, you will have to resetup your graphic settings but it SHOULD fix this issue.
