Solved

SWTOR won't launch after I press "play"

This problem appeared after 4.0.2 patch.
I already searched for common way of resolving such problem, but it doesn't help.
Since I have streaming launcher, I tried to delete bitraider folder, but it was completely useless - launcher patched itself, loaded new folder, but game wasn't loaded after all of this.
"Repair" function is inactive.
I tried to fix client_settings file, but it doesn't exist.
FixLauncher.exe from main game folder only changed launcher to it's old version. LauncherRepairUtility changed it into new version. All of it doesn't solve main problem.
I checked my antivirus, but there nothing wrong with it.

EDIT: checked launcher logs. There is one more problem:

ERROR Do not recognize current audit mode: BR_AUDIT_UNKNOWN - laucher stayed in "verifying" phase ~40 min

Only setting I am aware of with Kaspersky , that has a separate exception list , and normally causes a login issue not what you are seeing.

There is a setting called scan secure/encrypted connections pays to have this unticked or the exceptions entered there for both launcher.exe and swtor.exe

Now to disable Bitraider altogether is per here and is a new game download

    Dxdiag would be handy

Initially try going to the following location and set fullscreen to false in the client_defaults

    located at C:\Program Files (x86)\Electronic Arts\BioWare\Star Wars-The Old Republic\swtor\retailclient

Strange as this sounds do you have the ability to plug a different monitor into that system ?

Well, setting fullscreen to false didn't help.

And no, I haven't ability to plug a different monitor. (And I never changed settings of current monitor or related settings in system)

Checked launcher logs - there still an error with recognizing current audit mode of BitRaider, but then it says, that "Game successfully launched". Though actually it wasn't launched.

ordinarily the repair utility has known to sort that issue , was the one you used this one ? P1.8.1

There is a way to disable bitraider altogether but it is a new game download , but first does this make any change ?

What antivirus is used ? is both launcher.exe and swtor.exe in all the exception lists and is the game shortcut running as administrator ?

    LauncherRepairUtility? Yes, it's 1.8.1 version.

Deleting config folder and .xfr files didn't make any difference. I assume completely reinstalling is the last way now, though it will take awfully a lot of time. So how can I disable bitraider?

I use Kaspersky antivirus. Launcher.exe, swtor.exe as well as entire swtor folder are in exception lists.

Thank you for all your advices. I will try disable Bitraider and reinstall game.

  • I'm having the exact same problem. This is the third time I've gotten this since KotFE came out and every time it was after patching. First time I had to reinstall the game, second time I was lucky that deleting the Bitraider folder fixed it, but now it looks like I'll have to get rid of Bitraider period.

  • After the big windows 10 update last night, I am getting the following error when I click play after logging into the SWTOR launcher

This program encoutered an internal error and will exit.

    Error code: C5

Failed to load game assets. Please contact customer support.

My system is an Alienware 15 R2:

    GTX 980M Nvidia 358.91 Driver

    16 GB DDR4 2133 Memory

    i7 6820HK CPU

    1 TB SSD

    Windows 10 x64 Pro

SWTOR was running fine before the big windows update last night.
