Solved

The launcher is being updated....(yes another one)

Everything is in title, my launcher is stuck for ages like that.

Yes I checked solutions on Internet before posting.

Yes I'm running my launcher.exe as an Admin.

Yes I tried the "repair" button but it's actually grey, can't click on it.

Yes I tried switching language.

Yes I tried to download the repair tool (from the EA Launcher Troubleshooting guide) but as you can see it doesn't load (at least right now).

Yes I made sure my antivirus doesn't stop the process.

Yes my Internet connexion works fine (I'm actually posting this thread...)

Yes I tried this:

right mouse click on game shortcut and select open file location

open the launcher.settings file in notepad and locate the below line and edit to the below

, "PatchingMode": "{ \"swtor\": \"SSN\" }"
, "bitraider_disable": true

SAVE the changes.
Delete the BitRaider, Movie and Asset folders then start the launcher.

But NO, sorry, there isn't such lines in my launcher.settings file, all I have is:

{"DevLogin":"","Login":"","EnableAutoEnvironment":"false","LastEnvironment":"","LastProduct":"","loglevels":"INFO,SSNFO,ERROR","P2PEnabled":"false","enableRateLimit":"false","uploadRate":"0","downloadRate":"0","language":"en-us","SpecHash":"","AutoClose":"NONE","KillKillProc":"false","InternalLaunchpad":"null","InternalGamepad":"null","ExternalLaunchpad":"null","ExternalGamepad":"null","LastMode":"PROD","HardPatcherMode":"PROD"}

And finally Yes I've deleted BitRaider (but no sign of any Movie/Asset folders).

Just for the record:

I remember the launcher and that damn BitRaider were a mess before. In comparison the Blizzard launcher for World of Warcraft (sorry but I have to say it) always works PERFECTLY. I'm a player since the release in 2011. Stopped 4 years ago. I'm just curious to see how SWTOR goes now in 2021 and I can't believe I STILL HAVE TO DEAL with the same problems I had before. Not that appealing for a come back. Thinking about ending this right now before I've even started playing.

Sorry but I'm furious to see nothing has been done about it.

Could use some help here please before I give up for good.

  • Hi Proxos and thanks for the reply,

I finally managed to make it work with Steam (which wasn't possible back in the days hehe).

  • Got a notification as if the launcher problem has been solved....

....well, indeed I found a way to make it work, but only through Steam.

A far as I know the BitRaider problem has never really been fixed in....10 YEARS ! (which is as hilarious as very frustrating)

Players still struggle with it quite often, I've just been one of them for the past years, until recently.

Then NOPE, sorry, but you cannot mark this topic as "solved", because it really isn't.

(actually Steam done it for you.)

    @Sanobe_Grey

Bitraider has not been the default game patch method for the launcher since august last year , there are legacy installs

anyone now downloading the swtor setup file and doing a clean install, they should not be using bitraider

  • Looks like I didn't catch that patch...

I've done a regular install, as usual, by downloading swtor.exe directly from the official website, and it simply didn't work.

Actually, I had to download the .exe twice, try to delete some folders, etc.

For the average player who doesn't know anything about BitRaider or isn't aware about the Steam way, the problem still exists.

This is why I do think it hasn't been fixed. Or maybe I've just been unlucky...like many others ?

People don't want to struggle with a launcher and waste time looking for solutions on forums. They just just to log in and press "play". See how it works with Blizzard...

Sorry to be that guy, really. But coming back to SWTOR after four years and witness the same problems as before is discouraging.
