have you tried going into task manager and ending all bitraider processes then delete the bitraider folder and start the launcher ?
There is a 100% way to remove this unspecified error message but to do so involves a new game download per here
i too am having the same problem. i login from swtor launcher input my pw and security code then goes to second screen and i get same error as this post. i have done the clean reboots many times also cleaned out bitraider. At one point i managed to log into game after a reboot launcher downloaded new patch 4.1a i logged in and played for few minutes then was booted off and hasn't worked since. I also deleted and re instaled entire game and everything updated untill patch 4.1a

Turns out some malware was causing my issue. My son had accidentally downloaded some really nasty Trojan horse stuff while looking for Minecraft mods (I know, right?) Malwarebytes got rid of it and now all is OK.
Well I've tried everything folks have been suggesting. Still no luck for me....
Not sure what to do at this point but try again tomorrow.
I had to temporarily disable my Firewall to get the launcher to update.
For me log suggested that its caused by bitraider.
I had new game download, deleting bitraider also didnt help.
Solved by editing launcher.settings - set "bitraider_disable": true
Game is patching now without problem.
This worked for me too. Did you have any issues after doing this? Should I reset false after patching finishes?
if you mean you changed to non streaming by setting bitraider disable to true , leave it as it is.

I tried this by moving the folder to desktop (to be safe), end result was it did compete and when I checked it had also replaced the bitraider folder so dont be afraid about deleting it to start with.
ty sir you have no idea how log i been try to get back on SWTOR i been try say about day and half try to get the patch working.
i have tryed everything, when i do all those things, the error report does not show anymore, but its not letting me pass either(play butten still transparent) i will make a call tomorrow, so i i can get a hotfix or something
In the game folder there is a log folder , can you attach the latest log file , they are dated files
November, 2018 this is still a solution!
