I appreciate your analysis. That crash report does not surprise me as I sometimes have to reset my audio devices several times for the SWTOR sound to kick in. I do not have this issue with other applications. Approximately two days ago I was disconnected from the server in the middle of combat (rarely this happens) and was able to successfully log back in after exciting the game and starting it up again but no matter what I did the sound did not kick in until I restarted my PC.
Like you said, not sure if related but worth a mention.
Support are unaware of any bug causing desync with the audio
One thought is if this is via the bose headphones, the headphone audio could desync, this is an issue with the headphones as opposed to the game

Thanks for reaching out to QA and doing the additional research on the Bose QC 35. At first, I thought the issue was the headphones as well because of those same forum links you posted (and many others), but the desync was still present after I switched to Sony WH-1000XM4 and Sony WH-1000X M3 headphone models. I also tried all three headphone models with the direct audio jack connection with no improvement. I also tried to turn off my Wi-Fi router and have direct ethernet connection in case that was causing issues but that also saw no improvement.
I tried all of this again right after I read your last post in this thread just in case. A few weird things happened that I had no encountered before. When I plugged the headphones in directly through the audio jack (both Sony and Bose separately), the same quest giver that I was testing the sound on stopped having lip animations altogether. Instead only body movements (including eye blinks) would happen with mouths either staying wide open or closed. Each dialogue phase would also not move on by itself sequentially unless I pressed the spacebar and move it on manually. Additionally, throughout this time since plugging in the headphones, no sound whatsoever would play in the game. When quitting the game, the game would sort of crash and a Windows pop up saying to close down the program forcefully would show up. Once the game was restarted, all sound and lip animations came back to normal (normal meaning desynchronized for me). While there was no sound playing in the game and prior to quitting the game, I tabbed out and was able to hear sound on Youtube with no problem. This complete disappearance of lip animations did not occur when swapping between Bluetooth connected headphones. I reset the quest giver each time by abandoning the mission and restarting the conversation.
I managed to grab a video of the peculiar complete lack of lip animations with no sound using my NVIDIA overlay. I also grabbed a video with the lip animations and sound present (although desynched in my opinion) from the same quest giver. Is it OK if I send the two videos in? I also have a video of the desync from a different character as well. This way someone watching the videos would be able to tell if the delay is truly being cause by something on my end versus the game, correct?
What i do know with swtor and directx 9 sound , you cant change the sound source without closing and restarting the game, if a sound source is changed mid game it is likely to crash and have issues
Ok, interesting. Could Directx 9 also cause voice desynch? Installing it was part of the optimizations I made to run the game better prior to this desync issue appearing. While I did reinstall Windows 11, I did keep my personal files. Maybe Directx9 was part of that directory? Then again when I reinstalled SWTOR through Steam, it automatically also installs Directx 9. it is peculiar to me that a possible Directx 9-related issue caused problems with only lip animations (and virtually nothing else in the game) when I switched audio source, which is also the exact thing part of my original desync issue.
Do you have an opinion on sending in videos to help diagnose this?
All windows versions have directx , what files like https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/confirmation.aspx?id=35 do is install legacy files , instead of using emulation methods
Windows 11 has introduced issues at times too when it has done a update , example is the launcher issue recently incorrectly viewed.
I do not believe videos will provide any more information, if you say the voice is not synched to the lips , the video will show that, but doesn't change the what of what your saying if that makes sense
What i can say is if you do want to change audio source, you do need to close the game entirely, then change the audio source and then relaunch the game. ( this has always been the way with changing an audio source in swtor )Historically speaking, based on the links I provided in the original post, the fix for this seemingly repeating voice desync issue has been running a launcher repair, so Windows 11 recently incorrectly viewing the launcher makes some sense.
Is there anymore information you can point me towards regarding this Windows 11 and launcher incompatibility issue or is your final word on this thread in so many words that basically I just have to hope either Bioware or Microsoft somehow sneak in a patch and the problem magically disappears? (my original conclusion from the initial post).
I have been advised by SWTOR customer service to report this voice desync as a bug using the in-game bug reporting tool, so I guess I can do that although I do not have much if any hope that will be a fruitful endeavor based on our conversation in this thread. Nonetheless, thank you kindly for you assistance my Aussie green yoda brother and for all that you do in this community.
