Is this a debit mastercard ? if so it likely cant be used to purchase a subscription , it may work for buying 60 days sub
Ugh...I've always had problems with my SWTOR account and EA and Origins all merging and unmerging and all that *. I have had to forfeit two accounts that I had spent a lot of money on in the past and I am afraid it looks like I am at that point yet again...It's like what's the point of playing the * game anymore if I take a break for a few months and come back, I'll be *. Excuse the language please, I am livid right now as I have spent the past 4 hours trying to figure this out. Someone said if we posted our usernames they could help. I am afraid I will have to * talk on the phone with someone which I * hate, but I think it's my only hope... Sigh. I have followed all of the advice already given. Have tried multiple cards, made a PayPal account, bought a code on Amazon...nothing works.

Not sure if this will even get any help other than "Call the support" *. Sorry I am truly disappointed with how EA has changed SWTOR.
Account is flagged to be checked for issues , response will be in about 9 hrs when support are online for the day
also email the code into support@swtor.com from the email address you have attached to the swtor account
you will need to call swtor support when the phone lines are open to fix an account issue on that swtor account

The same thing is happening to me my swtor display name is Tarkorov
Same for me now that I tried the 60 day non-recurring subscription. Password resets didn't help and I verified it's the same email-adress as on this EA-account..
