Whenever I fast travel or load into a zone/quest loading screen gets stuck

Hi,

I do not know if I am phrasing this correctly or not but whenever fast travel or use an elevator to load into an area/quest whatnot I get a splash/loading screen and it will not go away. This happens every time. I first noticed it on the first Darth Baras dromond kaas quest, troubleshooters I think, where he sends you to guard the prisoner in carbonite and when I tried to load into the quest area the screen came up and would not go away.  The game is running behind it as I can hear it, I can hear myself move, I can interact with NPC's but I cannot see anything and it will not go away no matter how long I wait. I eventually have to either alt F4 or task manager and shut the game down. However when I try to go back into the game after this I am still stuck on the same screen, again the game seems to be running behind it but I cannot see it. The only way this goes away is to stop playing for like 15 to 20 minutes and when I come back it works, at least so far.

I am on Satele Shan server, using windows 10 pc specs: i7 9700k, 32gb ram, 2070 super. My graphics card drivers are up to date. I cannot seem to run the repair tool either as it is greyed out.

I appreciate any help

confirm the system power mode is not set to power save ? when playing swtor it should be set to maximum performance

only mention as it is possible to get that screen you see when the system has lowered power to video card etc

as to the 2nd issue , around the 15minute mark of being logged out the server side instance is reset

ensure the antivirus etc has exceptions for the game , it could be locking the cache file which can cause hangs on game exit

you can try to reset the cache file and see if it helps with the log out issue to do that go to

your drive :\Program Files (x86)\Electronic Arts\BioWare\Star Wars-The Old Republic\swtor  in that location you find a large file called diskcachearena

delete that file then start the launcher and log in as normal

  • Sorry I am replying to my own thread because I could not see a way to edit it. I forgot to mention that I am not a subscriber so therefore cannot seem to get in game help, also the game will not shut down properly when I log out. It hangs every time and I have to choose close program or it will sit stuck all day.

    Thanks

  • Thanks for the help. Everything on your list was already set or done correctly so I removed the cache file and so far that seems to have done the trick. I have fast traveled a couple of times now and I have had no issues at all. Again thank you
