You are squelched.

After spending last couple of hours playing hermit style (not interacting in any way with any player, chat or anything else!), just logged another toon and wanted to say hi to my guildies. instead all that I get is "YOU ARE SQUELCHED." no matter what channel I would try. Searched for any meaning and understood that is some ban/mute probably for something I did. Problem is that I don't remember such thing as last couple hours were spent playing this marvelous ultra social game ALONE! Also last actions that might brought me closer to this are reporting couple gold spammers as I've noticed them stacked on Hutta while deleted spam mail from them(yes, thank you for support) and tried to advertise my referral link on capital city trying to keep at least 5 minutes between ads.(that should be fair enough I'd say). However, you guys failed to do one important thing, as long with punishment should come the motivation, and I don't see any from you, not ingame mail nor account message notification. Or should we call this another new bug you developed? Cause if so, at least I will block my CC and move to another game, ofc not marked EA or BW. Thank you.

  • Squelched is designed when you spam multiple messages or you are reported by other players.  For example you mentioned you tried to advertise your referral link.  I'm not sure if it's against terms of service to do that but a lot of players do frown upon it and report it as spam.

Squelching lasts for 24 hours as long as you don't continue to try to use chat unfortunately.  It's automated, calling customer service won't resolve it or via the forum unfortunately.  You can try to submit a ticket but by the time they get to it, the timer will expire.

Also I can suggest is to not advertise any more your referral link in game as mentioned players will report it.

As far as credit spammers, they have multiple accounts and characters, once one is squelched, they just use another.  While BW is works to take out the entire ring at once they unfortunately will continue till that happens.

  • I understand perfectly what you are saying Belgorad, and I totally agree with this measure but the fact it happened to me in this context seems at least strange, first of all I expected to be notified about any mistake I probably did just to know and not repeat it in the future, it's a fair request as long as other games have already this implemented, not to speak that WoW for example has an automated timer to mute for 2 minutes you if your exceeding a number of shouts per minute. If there's written somewhere that we shouldn't advertise our referral links I would ask devs to be so kind to make those rules more visible(for example at loading screen tips, we end seeing them for minutes anyway). At the time I did that I considered a minimum of 5 minutes to be at least decent as was like afternoon and the chat was pretty much full, probably some guy was angry that I tried to ruin the scam market by not offering credits for who clicked my link(again that's something "good" that only BW could came up with, thank you guys for turning the game into this). As for the gold sellers, afaik no game can deal with them, I don't really see how BW can do a good job against them unless... it's their internal way of making more money. just sayin' 😉
