Same problem hit me as well, he has a TON of abilities and just soaks up all the mk IIIs. You.... can.... buy other packs to get a chunk of them, like the 19.99 vader pack gets you a decent amount. You'll just get shard currency for the rest, and gear other lowbie toons with the included stuff.
