I think what people are overlooking are ships. They have made a big emphasis on ships lately. The Falcon is farmable, and Poe's ship is now showing up in TB shipments. I don't think that's a coincidence.
Fact is, we don't know the plot of this movie or what other characters will play a big part. New Rey won't be the only character released... don't forget that...
Agree with you except on the inconsequential part, Luke's journey began with him being the daily log in character (as Rey now), then the Flash events came and a couple of months later the beautiful event.
You're right on the shipments, if we do the story, probably will start with Poe and BB8, then a small battle using Rey, BB8 and Finn, then the scape on the
Falcon, then meeting the Seniles (I loved this nickname LOL), then the battle on Maz Kanada's Planet using the 5 (Seniles, BB8, Finn and Rey), then Senile Han vs Kylo "a la" Old Ben vs Vader and last Rey & Finn vs zeta'ed Kylo
