Arena "Test Squad" Idea

Players have been asking for a sandbox mode for quite a while now. The ability to try out new squads without spending energy or daily attempts. My idea is to add a "TEST SQUAD" option to arena.

Choosing this option would mean 2 things:

  • The attempt would not count against your daily attempts
  • The result of the battle will not affect your standing (if you win, you don't move up)

This seems like it would be relatively easy to implement and I believe the player base would be VERY happy about it.

    Thoughts?

EDIT: This would also work for ship arena!

If you like it, thumbs up the idea on reddit (https://www.reddit.com/r/SWGalaxyOfHeroes/comments/8rr7xf/arena_test_squad_idea/)
    • is it gonna block you for 5 minutes ? if the answer is yes, so no.
if the answer is no, so yes.
    • Yep pretty good idea, I like it, not sure if everyone will though.
    • My issue would be just test till you find a team that can win turn trial off win move up and start again on the next one.
    • If it still left you open for attack and didnt have any timers then maybe, but this undermines part of the challenge of arena. If we could have free trys when someone changes a team, it shortens their advantage of either something they have earned, bought or theory crafted.

IMO, people are asking for a practice mode more to play other teams and not necessarily fight the same arena opponents again and again.
    • @Kyno I agree that people really want a practice (sandbox) mode where they can test teams against custom teams... such as those they might face in TW. However, creating a whole new game mode is a lot more work and will consequently taking longer to deliver (if they even decide to do it).

This idea would be easy (or at least easier) to implement. Your point that a player's advantage might be shortened is valid. I question by how much though.. a day or two? With Youtube, Discord, and Reddit new meta counter teams are researched/reported pretty quick.

They already talk about building this in one of the interviews and possibly using the GW table to select the teams you face.

I would take a day or two every chance I get to have some down time in arena. Sometimes one change can throw everyone off for a day, or at least a few battles, it's not alway about a meta change, just figuring out a new 5th member that works well. Those kinds of switches dont alway get caught by the majority but are still effective.
