Balancing the meta
Balancing the meta We have come far in this game and arrived in a place where a select few characters combine multiple roles in a team overwhelmingly well so that only extreme synergy like resi...

People here are afraid of nerfs for some reason, but a competitive game with no nerfing mechanism to keep strong characters in check is doomed to be either imbalanced or crippled by power creep. This game manages to be both.
Maybe swgoh isn't a competative game. Lets face it, it requires 0 skill. No amount of "balance" would ever change that. Powercreep atleast keeps it somewhat interresting because you'll have to keep up with the new and improved characters, wich wouldn't be possible without "imbalance".
It's still PvE in all games modes. Maybe you're battling vs real humans their teams in the fleet and squad arena, but it's still PvE. (i know, this means there's actually skill involved. You have to make better choices than the utterly terrible AI, wich imo doesn't deserve to be called "skill")
It is not supposed to be about "skill". It is about being intrigued what is possible. I want to fight opponents who have innovative lineups where i can go "Wow I didn't think this was possible". With Star Wars you probably have the most resourceful franchise in terms of character variety possible. You can create all sorts of interesting game mechanics and interactions. Discovering those is what keeps you interested in playing. You want to see a Darth Vader lead Empire team that crushes some rebel scum or bounty hunters who take out their targets one by one. At the moment, especially as a new player you are forced to go down a particular road if you want to maximize your rewards. I get that for some events and the credit heists but in terms of arena it should be way more encouraging to test things and go your own route without being heavily punished for it.
well, it simply takes too long to farm/gear a 5 character team to "test" things. I've been playing well over a year, doing reasonably well, and i still "only" have 30 max gear tier characters.
Yes it takes long to farm but as long as you feel rewarded at the end that is fine. I run rex, dn, gk, r2, thrawn and what is there to do now? everybody runs a similar team. every arena day is the same. There is nothing I could farm to potentially have a better or equally good team. So I guess I farm ewoks because they are new and have an event, but whatever.
